For Christopher Gray, CEO of Scholly, finding a home for his startup was at the top of the list. The collaborative workspace at ic@3401 was a natural choice for this student entrepreneur to grow his company that helps students find college scholarships. [READ MORE]

QUORUM For many members of the region’s innovation ecosystem, Quorum is their first introduction to the Science Center. Quorum’s unique triad of resources—event space, casual work space and programming— continues to provide the foundation for entrepreneurs to meet and collaborate, but most importantly, to build a community as they grow their companies. Between June 2014 and June 2015, more than 8,500 people attended a wide variety of programs and events in Quorum. The Quorum lounge was bustling as well with co-workers, impromptu meetings and intense networking. No matter what brings users to the space, the serendipitous collisions it fosters are why Quorum’s unofficial tagline is “You Never Know Who You’ll Meet.” [READ MORE]

QED Four researchers developing technologies for eye exams, cancer treatment, stem cell growth and healthcare sanitation received a total of $650,000 in funding through the seventh round of the Science Center’s QED Program in 2015. The program, started in 2009, funds novel university technologies with market potential, bridging the gap between academic research and product commercialization. [READ MORE]

FIRSTHAND Our STEAM programming has a new name! FirstHand. Equal parts Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math, FirstHand’s mission is to provide Philadelphia’s curious minds access to the knowledge and resources of the Science Center. By fueling discovery and exploration with interactive programming, we are opening the doors for the minds of tomorrow. As we look ahead, we must do our part to keep the talent pipeline filled with youth who are prepared to become the innovators of the future.
