“From a young age I’ve always had a passion for
fashion. From fashion designer to fashion tech CEO,
I have experienced the challenges most independent
designers face today. I catapult out of bed every day
because to me, there’s no better job in the world
than helping great brands succeed.”
Before Colabination, I was a fashion designer myself. We had great designs and good products but it was difficult for us to get discovered online. It didn’t take long for us to realize that many other designers shared the same challenges. Fast forward to where we are today: Colabination tackles the e-commerce and business side of the apparel industry and allows designers to devote more time and energy to their passion for making great clothes. We believe in colaboration in all ways, always, which you can see in everything we do—from our company culture to our marketing and business relations. By taking a unique approach to our marketplace, we’re able to put the heavy lifting on our plates so designers can do what they do best: Make the world better dressed.
We would not be where we are today without Quorum. We love this flexible space that promotes a sense of community and collaboration. The 12-foot whiteboard walls are my lifeblood. It’s something we can really rally around. When we brainstorm, everybody is up and over to the whiteboard. We use the Garage Offices with moveable glass doors to get heads-down work done. We also have access to the flat screens, so we can all work collaboratively on a project when needed.
In Philadelphia, there are startups in Center City, Old City, University City and Fishtown, but there’s nothing more impactful than entrepreneurs coming together as one. Quorum has been an incredible help in building our network. I attend Coffee & Capital sessions and meet with angel investors who are interested in the fashion space. I have also seen and assisted other entrepreneurs who have become friends—and mentors— through our shared space in Quorum. Philly New Tech Meetup, the pinnacle of meetups in the city, has also been a great networking event for us. And it’s held right here. The Quorum community always keeps us engaged and has helped build the very roots of Colabination.
The Science Center and University City community have a lot to offer. Lately we have been getting outside and exploring lunch trucks. I just tried Brazilian for the first time, a pulled-pork sandwich. It was delicious. We can go sit on a park bench, decompress, talk and eat our meals together. Happy hour at Han Dynasty is fun and also a convenient opportunity to learn a thing or two about business outside the workplace. I live in Bryn Mawr, and public transportation makes my commute to the city quick, easy and inexpensive.
